Camp Information
(9:00 am to 9:00 pm)
Check in Time 8:30 AM. Camp Starts at 9:00 AM. Parents Arrive at 7:00 PM. Camp Ends at 9:00 PM
(Parents arrive at 7:00 PM to participate in a youth cooked wild game meal and camp fire conclusion)
Ages 8 thru 16, male and female are invited to the camp. The groups will be split into 2 age specific groups.
Day Camp Activities
Archery- Proper Shooting techniques, aiming without a site, presentation of various types of bows and arrows and learn about aspects of each different style of equipment. We will have a small competition at the end of this session.
Fishing- Presentation of different types of rods and reels and various casting, flipping and pitching techniques will be presented and practiced. Presentation of various types of lures and fishing styles, with a small competition on casting accuracy at the end of the session.
Trapping- Presentation of different types and styles of traps and the type of animals that they are intended for. How to properly set the traps in a safe manner. Field location of potential sites for setting the traps for the specific animals they are intended for.
Nature Hike- Campers will walk a trail thru the woods, crossing a creek (bring 2 sets of shoes, one of which should be boots) see several different animals habitats and see why the animals prefer these locations on the 160 acre farm. Plant, tree and animals track identification will be the main focus of the hike with emphasis on safety and survival in nature.
Disc Golf- Presentation of the sport of Disc Golf (we have an 18 hole disc golf course on the property). Includes disc shapes and sizes, proper throwing techniques, and strategies for the game. Campers will play a 9 hole competition at the end of the session.
Farm Food Resources- Presentation of the food sources on the farm (Crops, farm animals, fish and wild game) Campers will learn the differnet stages of crop and animal growth from "birth to table".
Wild Game Dinner- Campers will learn how to, and help, prepare various wild game meats and home grown vegetables for their Dinner. (lunch will also be provided by Boondocks Farms) The wild game meal will include such meats as deer, elk, rabbit, buffalo, phesant, quail, squirrel and fish. The intent is to allow campers to try any of the wild game dishes that they wish to experience.
Evening Bond Fire- 7:00 PM parents are encouraged to participate in a fun ending event to the day. We will have a large bondfire, roast hot dogs and marsh mellows, and listen to what some of the campers have experienced and learned that day. We will end the day with a game that all will enjoy.
